Annual BBQ and Intrasquad Scrimmage

Chatfield Football Annual Scrimmage and BBQ

Saturday, August 19th

What better way to start the football season than with a full program BBQ alongside the full program scrimmage?  This annual scrimmage and family BBQ combination has been a time honored tradition of the Chatfield football program and not only serves to support our young men, but the scrimmage and BBQ serve to help us build community among the families.

The Gridiron Club invites families to come watch the football scrimmage, enjoy the BBQ and mingle together as a large football family.  We will have some special guests this year, Mary Michelle Beaty, the wife of the beloved first football coach of Chatfield Senior High School, Bob Beaty.  Please stop by the tent labeled Beaty Family and hear some stories from Chatfield’s past and see the plans for memorializing the practice field in Coach Beaty’s honor.

For those of you new to Charger Football, the Scrimmage and BBQ lunch is an awesome, fun 1/2 day event for players and their families to watch all 3 levels of football scrimmage, eat lunch together, purchase football media guide ads, King Soopers cards, Player buttons, Charger stadium seats, Charger yard signs, and Charger stadium blankets!  (Bring your checkbook so you don't miss out!)  Grid Iron Club will grill hamburgers, brats, and hot dogs, while parents contribute side dishes and desserts!  This is the ONLY event during the school year that includes Freshman, JV and Varsity simultaneously - EVERYONE who is involved with Charger Football!

This is a fun event that takes volunteers to help make it happen! Please take a moment and sign up to help!

As you can see on the sign up we are asking for tents to be brought to help shade the tables, but once that is full please feel free to bring shade for your own families and chairs to enjoy the full morning comfortably!

In addition to the volunteer help we do ask each family to bring the following:

EVERYONE:  Seniors to Freshman, please bring 1 case (24 bottles) of Gatorade.  The players will drink these after games throughout the season.  Each team already has a volunteer to take this Gatorade and bring to games iced down.  Please drop this off in the parking lot by the sign on 8/19!
